This series reveals a connection and relationship with the environment at a very real and visceral level. Devoid of colour and any tangible content these images hover around the photographic medium of 18% grey. This is the mid-grey, an average reflectance by which light meters and photographic standards are measured - a reference, a constant, a universal datum. A distillation of all that can or has been photographed. They sit on the cusp of nothingness, yet their very emptiness draws you in and allows you to see more and contemplate infinite possibilities. A soothing and meditative response to today’s culture of rapid fire disposable imagery.
Artful photographic prints are produced to the highest standard, using Giclee printing on 300 gsm 100% cotton rag fine art paper. This method, accepted by the art world for fine art reproduction, produces a high quality, archival grade digital print. The archival quality of the pigment ink with 100% cotton rag minimises the chemical reaction leading to image fading.
Because Giclee is widely regarded as one of the very best photographic and fine art printing methods it has become extremely popular with artists and photographers displaying their images in art galleries, museums and exhibitions.
Artful is proud to offer a high quality framing service that perfectly compliments the artwork. Using conservation quality wood mouldings, our handmade frames are built for each individual print and arrive ready to hang. The archival quality mount is acid free and pH neutral, so you can be confident your print is well protected.
Artful’s framing service is not only competitively priced but of the highest quality. If you have any requests for further framing options, get in touch.

Michael has been taking photographs since first picking up a camera on childhood holidays in North Wales. After school he studied art and photography at Napier College in Edinburgh, and since graduating he has worked on a wide variety of assignments both in the studio and on locations around the world.
With over twenty years of professional experience Michael's high technical and aesthetic skills have led to commissions from a wide range of clients including Berghaus, Hunter, Henri Lloyd, British Cycling, Reebok, and Sprayway to name a few.
Alongside his commercial work Michael's passion for photography is artfully expressed through his ongoing personal projects. These constantly evolving projects see Michael explore his environment with a unique vision and understanding of a medium that is the most analytical of the arts. With an intuitive sense of space, light, and spirit of place, he creates evocative and engaging images that form part of his sought after limited edition print collections, two of which are exclusively available here at Artful.
Whether working for a commercial client or engaged on one of his own projects Michael connects intuitively with his subject to create evocative and powerful imagery of genuine moments in time and space.
Michael's work has been exhibited at the National Theatre, Sheridan Russell Gallery in London, and Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw in North Wales. He has been awarded the Observer Photographer of the year, and has twice been commended in the Sunday Times Landscape Photographer of the Year.VISIT ARTIST PAGE
